Adele 'will play with Etta James'

Adele has announced that she is to play a one-off gig with her idol Etta James.

The Grammy Award-winning singer revealed details of the concert on her MySpace blog.

Adele said: "I don't actually know if I'm allowed to tell you yet but I just read it somewhere else so...

"I've been booked to play the Hollywood Bowl in June for a while now. But Etta James just got confirmed to co-headline it with me!

"Etta James is my favourite singer ever! This is the most amazing thing ever for me!"

She added that it will be an amazing night and urged fans to come along if they can.

Earlier this month, James told concert-goers that she "can't stand" pop icon Beyoncé, but later explained that the comments were made in jest.
