Bassist Nicky Wire made the announcement as he thanked fans for sending him a "monumental" card to celebrate his 40th birthday last month.
He said: "Just finished recording in Rockfield, only running orders left to be finalised, then cut the record in New York - looks like middle of May for release.
"We're excited, nervous, proud and fearful as usual, but can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Manic Street Preachers have been working with former Nirvana producer Steve Albini on the follow-up to 2007's Send Away The Tigers, using lyrics written by guitarist Richey James Edwards.
Edwards has been missing since 1995 when he disappeared in mysterious circumstances.
Organisers of T In The Park recently announced that the band is among the latest batch of acts to be confirmed for the Scottish festival.
