Michael Eavis has unofficially confirmed that Blur will headline this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The event's founder was speaking to BBC 6Music about widespread rumours that the band will play at his Pilton farm for the first time since 1998.

Eavis said: "Yeah, you can look forward to that... but it's not officially announced yet.

"Bit more work to do on that yet but you will not be disappointed, I can assure you."

Eavis added that Lily Allen will also play this year's event, saying that the singer was "practically born at the festival".

"I think her new single is the best song she's ever made actually so she'll be very high up on the bill on the Friday night, not headlining though," he said.

Blur's Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon made their first appearance on stage together for nine years when they played at last night's NME Awards show.
