Lady GaGa, Snow Patrol, Lily Allen, Keane and The Saturdays will also perform at the event, which is now in its 14th year.
Festival director Bob Angus described the lineup, which also features The Ting Tings, Katy Perry and Elbow, as "eclectic".
The annual pop extravaganza will take place on two separate sites - Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire - on August 22 and 23.
Acts who perform at Chelmsford on the first date will play Staffordshire on the second, and vice versa.
Tickets for this year's V Festival go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10am.
