Writing in her forthcoming book Miley Cyrus: Miles To Go, the 16-year-old admitted that she wanted to "punish" the boybander after their two-year relationship came to an end.
"Deep down I know we weren’t being our best selves," she said. "And that was what I wanted - and thought I deserved - in a relationship."
The Hannah Montana star confessed that she wanted to "punish him, to get him back for hurting me", but said that the track is "about forgiving, not forgetting".
Referring to Jonas as 'Prince Charming' throughout the book, she recalled that the night they met "it felt like the whole world stopped [and] nothing else mattered".
She added: "It’s hard to imagine that our love is a story with an end. But you know, at least I’m getting some really good songs out of it."
