The surprise follow-up to 2006's Modern Times features ten tracks and is comprised of raw-country love songs, Rolling Stone reports.
Dylan was said to have been inspired to keep writing after he contributed a track to the Olivier Dahan film My Own Love Song, starring Renée Zellweger.
A source said: "You would never expect the record after Modern Times to sound like this.
"Bob takes all of those disparate elements you hear and puts them into a track. But you can't put your finger on it [and say] 'It sounds exactly like that'. That's why he's so original."
Song titles on the as-yet-unnamed LP include 'Beyond Here Lies Nothin'', 'If You Ever Go To Houston', 'This Dream Of You', 'It's All Good' and 'I Feel A Change Coming On'.
The record has been produced by Dylan under his Jack Frost pseudonym.
