Vanilla Ice has apparently released a statement on YouTube apologising for his single 'Ice Ice Baby'.

The former rapper, real name Robert Van Winkle, was rocketed to stardom in 1990 with the No. 1 hit.

However, Van Winkle was hit by legal issues for sampling the Queen & David Bowie song 'Under Pressure' on the track without permission.

The 41-year-old, who last released an LP in 2006, said on the video message: "I'm sorry. Even though 'Ice Ice Baby' sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

"I'm sorry for the hairdos, the baggy pants, the scandals, the lies, the gangs, and I'm sorry about the music. I was young, manipulated and I was a puppet."
