Karen O speaks out on album leak

Karen O has spoken about the challenge faced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs when their third album was leaked online.

The singer told Pitchfork that it was not a hard decision to bring forward the release date of It's Blitz! after it found its way online.

She said: "It caught us off guard. Like, we're just starting to get the album together live now - originally, we thought we'd be in tip-top shape when it came out.

"Psychologically, it's a challenge because we wanted to build toward a date, get excitement up, and release it so everyone had it at once. But I guess that doesn't really happen anymore."

She claimed that the band was "stuck in 2003" and that the music industry climate was different as recently as 2006, when the band released their Show Your Bones LP.

"It's insane how quickly everything's changed," she added.
