Orton: 'Royalties important to artists'

The singer told BBC 6 Music that it is important for artists to have access to revenue from new media in the current industry climate.
Orton said: "Certain people can't just make money from gigs can they?
"You should get money from recording, because record deals are different now as well, so it would make sense that revenue has to come from somewhere."
Orton added that she could concentrate on raising her daughter for the past two years because of the money she has earned from previous albums.
"That's been from working really hard for ten years and then being able to live off the back of what I've done when those little royalty cheques come in," she said.
