According to the News Of The World, the comedy duo will perform at this summer's Isle Of Wight festival.
The pair's attempts to create music and play the event will apparently be chronicled in a new series called We Are Rock Stars.
"They're setting up a band from scratch, which is a hell of a challenge, so the set list is likely to include songs that aren't too taxing but will get everyone going," said a source.
"James's experience of fronting music gigs extends to playing the cornet at school, so it should be interesting to say the very least."
This year's Isle of Wight festival will be headlined by Neil Young, Razorlight, Stereophonics and The Prodigy. It takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport from June 12 to June 14.
