The plan for the collaboration came together when the guitarist met Simon Cowell at Elton John's Oscars party in Los Angeles, The Sun reports.
An insider said: "Simon thinks Slash is incredible and they got on like a house on fire at Elt's party.
"He was looking for someone unexpected to work with the girls and asked if he'd be interested. He really liked the idea and jumped at the chance."
Escala are currently recording their first album, which is thought to include covers of 'Live And Let Die' by Wings, 'Children' by Robert Miles and 'Run' by Snow Patrol.
