Running from July 2 to 19, this year marks the second edition of the festival which aims to present original, new work and special events.
Musicians booked across a number of venues include German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk, De La Soul, Mystery Jets and Antony and the Johnsons.
The Durutti Column will also perform at the event, with the Vini Reilly-headed group playing a specially written instrumental 'A Paean To Wilson' in honour of the late Factory Records boss Tony Wilson.
The festival also boasts showings of Prima Donna, the opera from songwriter Rufus Wainwright, an evening of performances from Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson and a host of other musical and theatrical happenings.
The first Manchester International Festival in 2007 saw the European premiere of Lou Reed's Berlin concerts and the showpiece production of Monkey: Journey To The West.
