Solomon Burke, Ethiopiques and Fat Freddy's Drop are among the artists announced for this year's WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) festival.

They will be joined by acts including Dub Colossus, Nneka, Rokia Traoré and Oumou Sangare at the world music event.

Festival director Chris Smith said: "Whether you are looking for the excitement of the main stage experience or keen to discover something new, WOMAD 2009 has some of the very best and most exciting music from around the world. This is going to be one great festival."

WOMAD was founded in 1980 by Peter Gabriel, Thomas Brooman and Bob Hooton, with the first festival launched two years later.

This year's extravaganza takes place on July 24, 25 and 26 at Charlton Park in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.
