Reports had suggested that Jackson's sell-out 50-date residency at London's O2 arena would follow a jungle theme and include appearances from numerous exotic animals.
The Mirror reported that the star even hoped to enter the venue on an elephant with panthers following in his wake.
The Captive Animals' Protection Society has already spoken out about the plans, and now People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) has added its voice in opposition.
A spokesperson said: "These exotic animals belong in Africa, not the O2 arena among screaming fans, bright lights and stage explosions.
"These wild animals are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them when they are forced to perform under stressful conditions. Michael needs to learn to leave exotic animals alone."
