Williams was filmed last week saying that it was "looking more likely by the week" that he would rejoin the group, but they denied that a reunion was imminent at a Danish press conference.
Gary Barlow said: "You know what, I've read that article about 50 times, I've seen it on his website a year ago, it's an old piece of news for us and we keep answering in the same way.
"We'd all love to do something - Rob's in the studio making a new album at the moment, we're on tour in the summer - it will happen one day, I just don't know when."
Jason Orange continued: "Robbie will tell you himself, he's quite changeable, so he will say on his website or some video that he wants to get back with the band and then he'll say in the next moment: 'Maybe I'll do my own thing.' He'll admit that he's quite changeable."
Mark Owen concluded: "The good thing for us is that since we got back together there's been so much more communication.
"We were out in LA mixing our record The Circus... and we've been spending a lot of time with him, the communication's there and we're really happy there's a friendship between us, and that's the most we can hope for at the moment."
