The pair were each working separately on music projects at Sarm Studios in Notting Hill when they realised that they were in the same building.
Williams was working on his comeback album with Trevor Horn while Barlow was mentoring new artist Gary Go.
Speaking to The Sun, Horn said: "They're all in the building. Gary is in one of the rooms and Robbie's there too. So they bump into each other and they get on brilliantly."
The producer, who has previously worked with Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Pet Shop Boys, added that Williams is "without a doubt one of the best singers" he has worked with.
Take That recently denied claims that Williams was "poised" to rejoin the band.
