Radiohead's Colin Greenwood has talked up his band's headline performances at the upcoming Reading and Leeds Festivals, despite their past experiences there.

The bassist told NME that the group did not savour the last time they appeared at the event in 1994.

Greenwood said: "I was asking Jonny about the last time we played Reading and neither of us can remember it, other than Thom singing [Tim Buckley's] 'Song To The Siren' at the start.

"We didn't enjoy it, as Ed has just said to me, but that was as much to do with us."

He added: "We hadn't played such a big stage before and it was daunting. It's probably why we haven't been back in a while.

"I think it's the chance for people to see our show in the UK and in the dark. That's the coolest thing."

Fellow headliners Arctic Monkeys have also spoken of their excitement at topping this year's lineup.
