The 16-year-old landed a £1 million contract with RCA Records after his appearance under mentor Simon Cowell on the ITV talent show.
Quigg said he is now pleased to be free of its commitments, telling the Daily Star: "I'm not sad it's finished.
"I write songs whenever I'm bored but the show didn't inspire me to write anything."
The teenager's debut album, due out on Monday, is a collection of covers with the exception of one original song entitled '28,000 Friends'. He said: "If it sells well then I'll probably do a second album and I'll co-write it all.
"There are a few songs that I’ve written already but nothing special yet. I’m coming up with new stuff every day."
