The band were performing at the Cokefest in South Africa when the guitarist spotted the unusual comments.
"Some of them unfurled a huge banner that said 'Noel's p*ss is the cure for cancer'. Well that was a bit weird," he told The Star.
The group were performing for the first time in South Africa as part of their world tour. They kick off the UK leg of the jaunt in Heaton Park, Manchester on June 4.
