The Black Eyed Peas star sang the US national anthem on the White House balcony with the President, his wife Michelle and their two children Sasha and Malia by her side.
The singer, who described the family as "my friends", then sang some of her own material before being joined by reggae star Ziggy Marley on a specially-erected stage on the South Lawn.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Fergie described the gig as "unbelievable".
"It was one of the most amazing moments of my life," Music-News quotes her as saying.
The Black Eyed Peas are currently number one in the US with their new single 'Boom Boom Pow'.
