The star for the late Beatles guitarist was unveiled by his former bandmate Paul McCartney, together with Harrison's son Dhani and widow Olivia.
Monty Python member Eric Idle and actor Tom Hanks also attended the ceremony.
Olivia said: "We all have deep feelings for George because he was such a deep-feeling person.
"Once you'd met him you couldn’t help but be drawn into his world. And he wanted to be in your world too."
Hanks added: "Let us thank them all for bringing us George. Every record was an event, every cut was an opera, the entire story told ours.
"All things must pass, sure. But George is going to live forever."
Harrison died of lung cancer at the age of 58 in 2001.
A new best-of compilation of his solo work entitled Let It Roll: Songs By George Harrison is due for release on June 16.
