Bosses are said to have lined up the rapper to host the event after his success at similar awards shows in Europe, The Mirror reports.
An insider said: "It would be a huge coup to get Snoop. He's such a crowd pleaser and was a great host of the MTV awards in Munich."
Snoop Dogg has been banned from entering the UK since an incident at Heathrow Airport in 2006.
Earlier this year, the rapper revealed that he had enlisted the help of David Beckham and Paul McCartney to try to overturn the travel restriction.
