'Dark Knight' composer gets Brits nod
James Newton Howard has received two nominations for this year's Classical Brit Awards.

The Dark Knight composer has been shortlisted for his work on the Batman sequel alongside co-composer Hans Zimmer.

Howard also received a nomination for his score on the Will Smith movie I Am Legend.

Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Charles MacKerras and Sir Colin Davis will battle for the Male Artist Of The Year award, while Alison Balsom, Anna Netrebko and Danielle de Niese have been listed in the women's category.

The Composer Of The Year gong will be awarded to one of Howard Goodall, Nigel Hess or Steve Reich.

Spanish tenor José Carreras will be recognised with the Lifetime Achievement In Music award at the ceremony in London on May 14.
