La Roux 'disappointed' by radio support

La Roux have admitted that they were disappointed with the initial lack of radio support for their single 'In For The Kill'.

Singer Elly Jackson claimed that radio bosses were unwilling to take a risk because they thought her vocals were too unusual.

"Radio 1 wouldn't play the song at first. I know I've got one of those vocals where it's very high and a bit like Marmite but it's not like I struggle to get there live. It's what I'm comfortable with," she told the Daily Star.

"When it got into the Top 20 someone at Radio 1 got angry that it hadn't been playlisted.

"There's a lot of female vocalists around singing in the same tone or in a slightly robotic way, like Lily Allen and Kate Nash or Lady GaGa."

The duo's single 'In For The Kill', which debuted at number eleven last month and has since climbed into second place, slipped one slot behind Tinchy Stryder in the midweek charts, having been the best seller at the start of the week.
