Governor Brad Henry will sign an executive order making the track the official rock song of the band's home state, News OK reports.
"The music of the Flaming Lips has earned Grammys, glowing critical acclaim and fans all over the world. A truly iconic rock n' roll band, they are proud ambassadors of their home state," Governor Henry said.
The executive order will be made law, despite the fact that 'Do You Realise' did not receive enough votes in the Oklahoma state senate to be declared the state's rock song by the legislative body.
Some representatives have said that the vote failed to pass because they thought Lips member Michael Ivins's decision to wear a shirt with the communist logo on it at the state's Capitol was inappropriate.
"I was really offended by that," representative Corey Holland said.
