The 50-year-old singer reportedly flew back to the UK earlier this week to be at his dad's side after he took a "turn for the worse".
John Weller died on Wednesday morning at the age of 77 after being ill for some time, Music Week reports.
He was responsible for buying The Jam frontman his first guitar and managed the band from the late 1970s until their split in 1982. Weller senior continued to oversee his son's career until 2006 when he became ill.
