The singer made the comments on his Twitter page after Noel described him as "rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy" and seemingly questioned his commitment to live rehearsals.
Regarding Noel's announcement of a hiatus to work on a solo project, Liam said: "It won't be a five year break if I've got anything to do with it. Thanks for the support."
Of the guitarist's grandiose plans for the follow-up to Dig Out Your Soul, he said: "A fifty piece choir on it? More like fifty sh*t guitar solo's on it.
"I can't wait to fly to Miami with a big mouth who calls himself a rockstar. I've had more fun with a tin of sardines."
When Noel appeared with Russell Brand on TalkSport radio, Liam responded: "Noel Gallagher, Russell Brand, f**king hell...what a pair of old housewife's. (Sic) Is it that time of month again rkid?"
