The reunited group played 'Spiderwebs', 'Don't Speak' and 'It's My Life' on Friday's episode of the Today show.
Singer Gwen Stefani told host Matt Lauer that it took so long to get the band back together because she "was in postbaby" mode. Bassist Tony Kanal also confessed that No Doubt had faced difficulties trying to record new songs.
"We got in studio and started writing and realised there was something missing. We haven't played for five years," he said.
"We just wanted to get out there again and play and reconnect with ourselves, reconnect with all the people who supported us for so long."
No Doubt will begin their reunion tour with a show at New Jersey's Bamboozle Festival on Sunday.
