The former Atomic Kitten singer insisted that she wanted to stick to a pure pop sound and had been working with writers behind recent singles from Leona Lewis and Rihanna.
"It will definitely be a pop album, but I always like to squeeze in a few big ballads like 'Woman In Love'," she told DS
"I guess it sounds a little bit like Atomic Kitten but maybe more current - like The Saturdays. I get on really well with them and really like their stuff.
"I've also been working with Tinderbox, who have written for Leona Lewis and Rihanna. They're so clever, just really poptastic!"
The star, who won reality series Celebrity Masterchef last year, went on to explain why the release of her debut album has been delayed.
"I left my management and record company last year. I literally left everyone behind and started afresh because I felt a little bit stuck in the mud," she said.
McClarnon releases new single 'Lately' on May 18. Her as-yet-untitled solo album is expected to follow later in the year.
