The singer announced the news on his official website this morning.
"Due to illness tonight's show at London Royal Albert Hall has been cancelled," the message read.
"Event organisers would like to apologise to his fans for the disappointment but he is unable to perform and on doctor's orders has been told to rest."
Ticket holders have been advised to hold on to tickets and await information on a "possible" rescheduled date.
Morrissey's latest single 'Something Is Squeezing My Skull' failed to reach the UK top 40 last month. His summer tour dates to promote his Years Of Refusal album include shows around the UK and Europe.
