The R&B singer told thelondonpaper that he will not be enlisting the help of any players for the record.
Akon said: "I'm going to South Africa for a meeting about the 2010 World Cup. I'm the official music co-ordinator. It means I'll produce the official World Cup song and I'll oversee all the official music.
"If David Beckham said he wanted to contribute musically, I'd advise him not to. He'd definitely be better off playing. It doesn't work when athletes try to become musicians."
Il Divo and Toni Braxton's 'The Time Of Our Lives' was the official song of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, while England's song for the tournament was Embrace's 'World At Your Feet'.
