Bette Midler has revealed that she would like to duet with rapper 50 Cent.

The Beaches actress said that she and the hip-hop artist have developed a friendship that she hopes could lead to a collaboration, E! reports.

"I was hoping we'd sing songs from the Depression, but he's so young that I don't think he knows any of them. I'm going to have to check things out and see what he feels like singing," she said.

The pair struck up their bond over Midler’s New York Restoration Project, which saw the rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - become involved with the development of a public garden in his childhood neighbourhood of Jamaica, Queens.

Both Midler and Jackson will be in attendance for the project's eighth annual spring picnic in New York next Tuesday.

She added: "Little Jewish lady and the great big rapper. He's such a doll, I love him. He's gorgeous."

Midler is currently headlining at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, while 50 Cent is at work on his next album Before I Self Destruct.
