David Johansen has claimed that the New York Dolls single-handedly lowered the standards of the whole music industry,
The band's singer and founder member told Blender of an incident when the band had too much Newcastle Brown Ale at a concert in the 1970s.
Johansen said: "We started drinking those, and later the drummer vomited onstage during the show. He kinda heaved all over, then continued pounding on the drums.
"Puke was definitely flying everywhere. Arthur [Kane, bassist] got hit in the nose with it, and then he started projectile vomiting. It was kinda like a chain reaction."
He added: "I don't think 'pride' is a word that's in the vocabulary of the New York Dolls. What am I proud of? Well...we single-handedly lowered the standards of an entire industry."
New York Dolls released the Todd Rundgren-produced Cause I Sez So earlier this month.
