The 23-year-old Norwegian, who scooped a record 387 points for his folk tune 'Fairytale', accidentally shattered the crystal microphone-shaped statue after being too forceful when he set it down on the stage.
Speaking to The Sun, a representative for the singer said: "Yes it broke but it was a matter of some weak glue to begin with, I think. It’s easy to fix."
Rybak's 'Fairytale' has been tipped to top the singles charts around the world and is currently sitting at third place in the UK iTunes chart.
Bookmakers William Hill are currently offering odds of 12/1 that Rybak's track will give him a UK number one in 2009.
