The Welsh rockers, whose new album Journal For Plague Lovers was released on Monday, have been known for their politically influenced lyrics ever since the release of their 1992 debut record Generation Terrorists.
"There's a lot of musicians who seem to act politically, and you listen to their music and think, 'Well, why don't you actually write about it?'," Wire told Absolute Radio.
Asked about the current state of politics in the UK, he added: "Personally, I'm not disillusioned with politics. I enjoy politics. I still think it gets a lot of things done. I think if we were all placed under the scrutiny that politicians were, we'd all be out of a job.
"I really do, because we're all corrupt."
