Despite rising illegal download figures, singer Harry McVeigh told BBC 6 Music that he believes a demand for music will always exist.
"People will always make music; people will always listen to music, so there's demand out there. You've just got to figure out how to make enough money from it do to do it full time," he said.
McVeigh did however add that the music industry could have been quicker in reacting to the increase in file-sharing.
"Maybe the music industry wasn't quick enough on the uptake in terms of downloads - if they'd jumped on a bit more, then maybe they'd be a bit more successful."
