John McClure has hit out at the British National Party after his band Reverend And The Makers headlined a Love Music Hate Racism event in Stoke.

The band topped a bill that also included performances from Kelly Rowland, Chipmunk, Beverley Knight, Pete Doherty and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

McClure told NME: "The Britain I know is the one of harmony where we live together and alongside each other, the idea of the BNP repulses me.

"But there's a feeling here that we can change things, it's exciting times."

Pink Floyd, Futureheads and Blur recently spoke out against the BNP after the party used the bands' songs on compilation CDs with titles including Proud Heritage and Rule Britannia.
