'Gossip' star Badgley considers music career

Penn Badgley has become the latest Gossip Girl star to express an interest in releasing an album.

The actor, who plays Dan Humphrey in the CW show, told MTV News that he was open to the possibility of launching a music career in the future.

"Music is my first passion, but because of that I don't really want to just take a first step in the wrong direction," he explained.

"At the moment, I just want to be sensible about what I do. I just write and I play, and that's all I need for myself right now...Years from now, maybe you'll see something, but for the moment it's something that I don't want to do."

Badgely is the fifth cast member to confess having a musical ambition. His on screen sister Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey) is currently touring the US with her band The Pretty Reckless, while Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) has signed a major record deal and Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) fronts an indie band.

Co-star Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald) will also be displaying his singing and dancing skills in the upcoming remake of Footloose.
