The singer, who was sectioned in 2003 and spent six months in psychiatric care after destroying a neighbour's patio, attributed his return to form to his new girlfriend.
"I've been hitting the gym and walking a lot. I feel great, better than I have in years. Clare has also been making sure I eat only the finest, healthy food," Contactmusic quotes him as saying.
The 54-year old, who shot to fame with Adam and The Ants in 1980, said that he wants to repay fans for their support.
"He has been through so much but gradually he's been getting back on his feet, thanks to the support he's been given in his personal life and by his devoted army of fans," a source said.
"Nothing's been set in stone in terms of dates but there are meetings going on at present to plan shows."
Adam Ant, real name Stuart Goddard, was given the Icon accolade at the Q magazine awards 2008.
