The 'New In Town' singer told thelondonpaper that the number two chart position for La Roux's 'In For The Kill' was an important landmark.
Little Boots said: "La Roux's done amazingly well, which shows the charts aren't what everyone thought - that people don't just want Akon or whatever, and maybe times are changing."
She added: "I don't know how true this is, but people say in these times, when we have no money, my disco pop takes you away and makes you lose yourself, but people need to stop being depressed and get on with it."
Last month, Little Boots dismissed suggestions of any rivalry between her and La Roux singer Elly Jackson.
