Liam and Noel Gallagher have publicly taken issue with recent articles by Manchester Evening News journalist Angela Epstein.

In a piece published ahead of Oasis's recent Heaton Park shows, the columnist said that she was "smouldering" about the decision to let the group "play in my beloved park".

Singer Liam reportedly dedicated 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' to Epstein during one of the concerts and she retorted in a second column that she "didn't even know he could read".

On his own official blog, guitarist Noel described "Angela Bernstein" (sic) as "a ginger whinger from the MEN who has written a couple of s**ty little pieces over the last few days".

He said: "She claimed that we - and by that I mean YOU - had no 'right' to 'come up here' from London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Tokyo, LA, Milan, all over the world in fact, to 'her' wonderful piece of England and enjoy ourselves and leave a little bit of mud.

"What a joyless old husk!!"
