The television and radio personality will be honoured with this year's Music Industry Trusts' Award for his "hugely influential" role in introducing new artists to the public.
Speaking to BBC News, the 48-year-old described the prize as "an incredible honour from an industry that I have always loved".
He added: "Music has always played a large part in my life and it's been a privilege to not only present most of my musical heroes but to give a leg up to the next generation."
Organisers of the awards explained that Ross had helped break new artists since his first chatshow, The Last Resort, in 1987.
Previous recipients of the prize include Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Lucian Grainge, the head of Universal Music Group.
Ross will accept his reward at a ceremony in November.
