According to NME, Danny Goffey, Gaz Coombes and Godrich are working on a covers album, which will feature reworkings of The Kinks, Gang Of Four, Syd Barrett, Roxy Music and The Sex Pistols.
Hot Rats will make their live debut at festivals including Glastonbury, Truck, Bestival and Reading & Leeds.
The trio's debut disc is expected to be released in the autumn.
