Singer Johnny Borrell admitted that the only reason they continued was because they had already experienced a lineup change.
"It was not at all certain that we were going to carry on. We had kind of rehearsed for it because we had exactly the same situation just after the first album, where Christian Smith-Pancorvo left, then Andy came in," he told The Daily Star.
Burrows reportedly quit the band after rowing with Borrell, complaining of his "prima donna behaviour".
However, the frontman insisted that new drummer David Sullivan-Kaplan has given the 'America' rockers a new lease of life.
"Scully fit in right away. He's a really great guy and an excellent drummer so it feels new and exciting," he said.
Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones recently claimed that Razorlight were in "f**king trouble" and would have to reinvent themselves in order to survive.
