Pixie Lott has said that she would have tried to win a record contract through reality talent shows only as a "last resort".
The singer, who is currently at number one with debut single 'Mama Do', admitted that she prefers bands and artists to gain success by "doing it your own way".
She told Absolute Radio: "I always like to think doing it your own way and the old-fashioned way, working your way up with hard work, is the best way to do it."
Asked if she ever considered appearing on talent shows like The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, Lott said: "I've always thought that if I got really old and I still wasn't getting anywhere then maybe it would be like a last resort type-thing."
The Essex-based star also spoke about her newfound pressure of being in the spotlight, adding that she attempts to ignore it.
"I don't like to think about the pressure or I'll just get nervous and then I'll get worse. I just like to focus on enjoying myself and having fun...It is pretty crazy, it is very weird," she said.
