The rocker sparked the speculation during a webchat earlier this week, when he suggested that their last album Folie A Deux could have been their "swan song".
Speaking to MTV News, he said: "No, we're not calling it quits, but [we've got] no future album plans right now.
"We can't quit, we're waiting to get fired."
Wentz went on to say that Fall Out Boy would only disband "when it stops being fun... all I meant in the statement is that if [last single] 'What A Catch, Donnie' was the last statement we made, I would feel content".
He added: "I think it's all in context, There aren't any new FOB songs currently because we don't write music just for the sake of it.
"At the same time, tomorrow maybe we will... This was not meant to be some cliffhanger to keep people on the edge of their seats. We adore our fans and I believe everyone will know when it's all over."
