Florence And The Machine have described their debut album as a "scrapbook of events" documenting life.

Singer Florence Welch admitted that Lungs, which is released on July 6, focused on her personal experiences growing up.

"This album feels like a culmination of 22 years of my life," she told NME.

"A scrapbook of events, things I've seen, people I have met, dreams and nightmares, and now seems like the right time to release it into the world.

"If it was up to me I would never finish it, but I have to let this one go now so I can start another scrapbook."

Florence And The Machine were awarded the Brit Awards 2009 Critics' Choice title earlier this year.

According to midweek sales figures, their new single 'Rabbit Heart' (Raise It Up) is expected to break the Top 10 on Sunday.
