She admitted to NME that the record features one running subject of love.
"There's a theme, the whole album is all about love," she said.
Of new single 'Bulletproof', which is on course to debut at number one in tonight's chart, she explained: "It's about being slightly in denial and telling yourself that you're not going to make the same mistakes again.
"You're not going to be that weak kind of slave to someone anymore. Even if they look at you in the most enticing manner, you will be bulletproof and you will not succumb to their alluring ways."
The album was co-produced by Jackson's musical partner Ben Langmaid, while she also let slip of their favourite song on the LP.
"[Cover My Eyes] is something for people to get into because we didn't want an album of just angular dance tracks. It's very important for us that there's things for people to get into on the album.
"All our favourite classic albums have the big ballads and slightly more vulnerable songs as well. It's one of those, me being very honest. It's a different side to La Roux for definite."
La Roux's self-titled debut record is released tomorrow.
