Michael Eavis has said that he will pay the fine incurred after Bruce Springsteen's Saturday night headline set at Glastonbury overran.

Springsteen finished his performance at 12.39am, exceeding the local council's curfew and resulting in a £3,000 fine.

Eavis told reporters: "I gave him ten minutes and he took nine. I'll pay the fine. It's £3,000.

"Paul McCartney paid me back. I'm going to pay the Bruce Springsteen one myself. It's not a lot because it was fantastic. The last nine minutes were spectacular."

Springsteen's career-spanning set included 'Born To Run', 'Dancing In The Dark' and 'No Surrender'.

The singer-songwriter followed his Glastonbury debut with a three-hour show at London's Hyde Park on the following day.
