The 'In For The Kill' singer told Metro that she was not trying to make a statement with the garment.
Jackson said: "I only wore that T-shirt because I didn't have any clean clothes. I wasn't trying to be rebellious and punky.
"My mate had just bought it because she knows I love that word. I've regretted it to this day."
Jackson added that she did not design her distinctive red quiff as a ploy to sell records, but claimed that "it happened by accident".
"I started cutting it but it went a bit wrong and I quite liked it. Hopefully, the album will give people more to grab on to than just two singles and hair," she said.
